Get to Vietnam

Generally, there are three ways to enter Vietnam: by air, by roadway and by water.

  1. By Air

Airway, as the best way to get to Vietnam, is easy and time-saving. There are three main airports in Vietnam located in the three main cities: Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, which all manage many international flights.

The Airport in Hanoi is called Noi Bai International Airport, located 45 km from the center of Hanoi. It is the largest airport in Northern Vietnam with a maximum capacity of 10 million passengers after the new runways have been constructed.

Danang International Airport is located just a few kilometers from the city center Danang. It manages domestic flights from all over Vietnam and international from Hong Kong, Bangkok, Vientiane, Phnom Penh and Taipei. If you plan to visit Hoi An Ancient town in the center of Vietnam, you will probably take flights to Danang International Airport.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is located 7 km from Ho Chi Minh City, constructed by French Colonial Government in the 1930s. As the gateway to Southern Vietnam, it is one of the busiest airbases in the world with a capacity of 8 to 10 million international passengers per year.

  1. By Roadway

It seems there are only two options to get to Vietnam by roadway: by bus or by train. It is possible to get to Vietnam by bus from Cambodia, Laos and China to cross the borders. By bus is relatively cheaper but it may make you feel tired and exhausted during the long and bumpy distance. And the choices are limited.

Another option is by train. It is only available for traveler from China. The only one railway connects Vietnam is from Beijing to Hanoi via Nanning and Lang Son Province, which departs every Thursday and Sunday.

  1. By Water

The only international connection by water is through Mekong River crossing from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh.

The ways to get around in Vietnam are varied and getting more and more improved now. Using local transportation will save your money and get into the local to know more about mysterious Vietnam. With so many ways to choose, hope you will always find the best way to get round in Vietnam.

  1. By Motorbike

Motorbikes are most commonly used among Vietnamese, which make them the most convenient way to get around in Vietnam.

  1. By Cyclo

It is a 3-wheeled bicycle-rickshaw. Visitors sit in front of the it and to explore the city in a slow-speed. You don’t have to worry about missing the scenery, don’t have to worry about traffic.

  1. By Taxi

It is the best way to take when the distance between you and your destination is a little long. Taking a taxi in Vietnam, you need to ask the local to write down your destination to avoid trouble.

  1. By Boat

Vietnam is abundant in rivers, so the boats can be connect many places in Vietnam. And as a different means of transportation from inland, traveling by boat is popular among tourists.

  1. By Train

If the distance is long and your budget is limited, trains will be a good choice to travel in Vietnam. Overnight train transfer is available, which will save your hotel cost.Be warned that you need to book trains a few days in advance, especially for weekend travel.

  1. By Air

Transfer between two cities and you don’t have much time to take train, flights are your ideal choice for you. The fares are reasonable and affordable. There are plenty of flights to main hubs in Vietnam.
