4 DAYS DISCOVER MEKONG DELTA CULTURAL INSIGHTS WITH OVERNIGHT AT HOMESTAY

DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY –  CAN THO ( L/D)

AM: Pick up at hotel in Hochiminh city and depart for  Can Tho city, the capital of beautiful Mekong Delta.

PM: Upon arrival, transfer to Tram Chim to visit the wildlife birds in the urban of Can Tho city, about an hour drive. This place is considered as the “green lung” of the Mekong Delta, the habitat of many rare, precious plants and animals. Canoeing on the glowing emerald-like water through the length of this sanctuary to discover the hidden bird sanctuary and ecological system in the Mekong Delta.Then back to homestay for overnight and relax.

DAY 2: CAN THO – XEO QUYT – SA DEC (B/L/D)  

AM: depart your hotel and head to Xeo Quyt forest. You will see a vast swamp beneath a spectacular thick canopy of tall cajuput trees and vines. It hides the remains of secret Viet Cong (VC) bunkers, which can be seen on a marvelous 20-minute sampan ride inside the forest past old bunkers and on foot along with the shady walking paths. At Xeo Quyt forest, you can hear impactful historic stories during the guided walks. The chance to explore the Mekong River delta in a sampan boat is unique and unforgettable, and in these experiences, there is a surprising amount to feel and learn.

Then, take a visit to Kien An Cung antique Chinese temple in Sa Dec which is also known as Ong Quach Pagoda. Continue to explore Huynh Thuy Le’s ancient house which is famous for the romantic love story of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le and his L’amant (lover) – a well-known French writer Marguerite Duras. At this spot, you also enjoy Vietnamese authentic lunch meal at “the lovers’ house”

PM: Check in the 100-year-old Sa Dec flower village – known as the flower kingdom of the Mekong Delta. Sa Dec, Dong Thap is home to many kinds of flowers in the South of Vietnam. It is the biggest supplier of flowers to many cities in Vietnam and 50 varieties of roses for export. Finally, return to homestay in Can Tho late in the same afternoon.

DAY 3: CAN THO – VINH LONG                 (B/L/D)

AM: Pick up at hotel and start to Ninh Kieu Harbor, boarding a local boat and head to Cai Rang  – Floating market – a must-visit place in Mekong delta. On the way to the market, you will see beautiful sunrise reflecting on the river; real local activities such as washing the clothes, catching fish or children swimming on the river. At the market, you will know the history, cultural values, bustling trading scene and amazing people there. Enjoy “floating noodle soup”, a cup of Vietnamese milk-coffee onboard and savor fresh pineapple on a local pineapple boat.

Visit a local rice noodle factory to learn how Mekong people make noodles by hand and try its specialty Noodle Pizza. At noon time, enjoy our amazing Mekong Delta cuisine with many typical foods that bearing incredible flavors.

PM: Transfer back to Vinh Long. Upon arrival, have a walking tour to Vinh Long market, a typical local market of Mekong delta. Then, take a motor boat to cruise along Co Chien, visit Tien Chau pagoda which was recognized as a national relic and brick & pottery factory where you know how to make the brick and the pottery from the local clay and styles with the traditional technique.

Arrive at the local family Ut Thuy or Sau Thanh homestay for overnight. Walking to village paths with stop at the local house to know the real rural water life in the early evening. Preparing and having dinner with local people

DAY 4: VINH LONG – CAI BE – HOCHIMINH CITY (B/L)

Having breakfast, say goodbye to the family.

AM: Take a boat to the upper Mekong river and then taking 20 minutes on sampan in endless zigzag canal in Tan Phong island. After short visit, the boat continues cruising to Cai Be floating market, the original style of commerce on the Mekong river, the wholesale market in the region. Visiting the local poprice, coconut candy workshop and  knowing the ways bee-breeding  tasting honey tea by breezy river.

PM: Transfer back to your place in Hochiminh city. If time permits, stop to visit Vinh Trang pagoda in Tien Giang- a wonderful place for those who are interested in religion and want to enjoy the unique experience. The pagoda’s architecture is an elegant blend of East and West; Renaissance – style patterns and Romanesque arches blend seamlessly with Japanese tile and traditional Vietnamese architectural styles. On your return to Hochiminh city, drop at your place and tour end.
