SOUTHEN HIGHLIGHTS OF PHU QUOC ISLAND

AM: Pick up at hotel and start to discover the South of Phu Quoc island – the largest island in Vietnam and is home to a wealth of beautiful beaches, lush forests and mountains. Start the tour with an introduction to a few of Phu Quoc’s specialties: Pearl, fish sauce, sim wine, and pepper. First stop will be Phu Quoc’s Pearl farm. Pearls have been farmed and cultured in this part of southern Vietnam for hundreds of years. Most of the pearl farms are located right after the row of resorts along Truong Beach or Long Beach, some 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) south of Duong Dong (the main city). What used to be a small-scale handicrafts industry on the island is now a major cottage industry and source of income, as pearl farms big and small are found in this road stretch on the western side of the island leading to the sea port town of An Thoi

Then continue the journey to Ho Quoc Pagoda, 18kms from Duong Dong Town and located in Suoi Lon hamlet. The temple is situated along the coastal 10-km road in  north of Sao Beach, that’s why the panoramic sea view afforded from the temple grounds is unsurpassed and very worth a visit.

Enjoy the relaxing and peaceful moments at Sao Beach – one of Phu Quoc’s most beautiful beaches with sparkling white sand, crystal-clear water, and fresh air.

PM: After lunch, continue to visit one of the historical places in the island. Phu Quoc prison, a special national monument as well as an evidence of crimes from the colonialism, but also a spirit of the Vietnamese soldiers in prison during the war, fighting for revolution. It has the other name as Cay Dua prison (The coconut tree prison).

Next up is a sim wine factory where you’ll find out how the wine here is made from sim fruit and sample some of the produce if you like. Next up, Phu Quoc pepper is renowned for being the best pepper in Vietnam and you’ll visit a pepper farm for a fascinating insight into its transformation from plant to pepper pot. You’ll learn how local people carefully cultivate their pepper garden to produce the very best pepper and, of course, you can purchase some if you wish.
